After the Magical Rains
The magical rains of the week prior have brought boundless blossoms to our garden. Everything feels greener, fuller, and a little more alive each time we step outside. We’ve picked around fifteen cucumbers in the past week alone, and we’re planning to turn some of them into a cucumber, watermelon, and feta salad for our 4th of July celebration.
The kids have become the best little garden crew, constantly wandering out to check for new growth, peek under leaves, and announce each tiny discovery like treasure. It’s been such a sweet thing to watch them notice the garden changing day by day, learning its rhythms right alongside me.
This week also brought a bit of unexpected backyard drama when we had to rescue a little fledgling from the dogs. Thankfully, we spotted it in time and were able to get it somewhere safer, another tiny reminder that our yard is full of life right now, feathered, flowering, growing, and wild.

Cultivated and Untamed
The garden is slowly becoming its own little spell — purple and orange bell peppers brightening on their stems, pole beans climbing toward the sun, chamomile blooming like tiny buttons of gold, mint tumbling wherever it pleases, and peaches quietly promising sweetness. Beyond the rows, the wild things are growing too: thistles standing tall and untamed, weeds I can’t help but admire, and a little wild bunny darting past like it knows this place belongs to it just as much as us.
